The Green Fashion Competition
The second season of the The Green Fashion Competition has begun. Participants will be encouraged to create ‘green’ and ‘catwalk-worthy’ fashion. They will design three outfits and write a business plan wherein they explain how their ideas contribute to sustainable use and preservation of biodiversity. CREM is one of the judges who will judge the designs by their contribution to biodiversity preservation. What choice of materials and painted fabrics did the designers make and what are the possibilities of recycling the discarded fabrics. It is also important that the designers ‘understand’ the subject ‘biodiversity’. In the fall of 2011 CREM will organize a workshop about Biodiversity for the selected participants of the competition. The Green Fashion Competition is organized by the Amsterdam International Fashion Week in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. Anyone with a vision of ‘the future of fashion’ can register for the Green Fashion Competition between 16 July and 30 September 2011. The finale will take place during Amsterdam International Fashion Week in January 2012.
