Certified Peruvian timber in store

In 2013 trade and marketing of illegal timber will be prohibited by law in the EU. This new legislation will demand stricter control for timber and timber products imported to Europe and mainly sourced from developing countries. This new law, however will create and stimulate an increasing demand for certified timber products. To assess the prospects for Peruvian exporters in this new scenario, the CBI and ADEX (Association of Exporters of Peru) have asked CREM to analyse and specify the market opportunities for FSC certified tropical timber furniture from Peru in three target countries, i.e. Italy, Spain and The Netherlands.

Following this analysis CREM will further research market opportunities for other Peruvian export products. This includes products from fishery and tropical fruit and vegetables sectors, such as rainbow trout, sardines, blueberries, ginger and passion fruits
